So bin ich zu Viva con Agua gekommen

Über mich

I am very glad to join the VcA WASH team in the newly developed role for institutional fundraising.

I am hoping to bring to this role,my personal and professional experiences working in the sectors of WASH, Education and Public Health and living in 10 countries in south Asia (Nepal), Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam), and sub-Sahara Africa (Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Burundi, and Ethiopia). I hold two bachelor’s degrees from Dalhousie University(Canada) on International Development and Biology and a master’s degree in International Development Planning from University of Guelph(Canada), where I focused on gender, and indigenous natural resource management systems.

I describe myself as an American by birth, as I was born outside the windy city of Chicago. Ghanaian by blood and ethnicity, as my familyoriginates from Ghana, and Canadian by heart, as I grew up in Canada and this is where my parents and sisters reside.I live in Berlin with my beautiful twelve year old son.

Although, I have been in the WASH sector for many years, I know that there’s still so much to learn and to do. I hope my role in VcA institutional fundraising will bring solid resources and help realise our strategy of water for all and all for water!

Mein typischer Arbeitstag bei Viva con Agua

A typical day in the office is meetings- but meetings with people who know  alot about WASH- water, sanitation and hygiene! Finding out what other organisaitons are doing- so we do not do it alone, and where there's possibilities for funding for our projects. Like yesterday, I met with Anthony of Pooptank. I discussed WASH in Schools with GIZ Fit for Schools Programme in Asia,  UNICEF and WaterAid. I met with our team on how to fund the WASH Game.

It's about putting our minds together to find solutions to difficult WASH problems, and to be inspired by what others are doing.

Dafür kannst du mich immer ansprechen

I love to talk WASH-  the good, bad and the ugly. Global or local issues- they are all connected. Water is a human right and it is linked to so many other rights. When we work for other rights- like Gender, Education, Health, Climate and Environment, we work for WASH rights too!

Das wünsch ich mir für Viva con Agua

As a staff member, to work with others to make the mission and strategy to realise Water for all and All for Water.

Viva con Agua is a unique organisation to do this. Like no other. We think beyond the boundaries. We do it in a fun way. I think this is contagious and hope others catch our good disease!
